Alcohol, sages say, knows no bounds. And that is why when drunk, people, regardless of their social standing, say all manner of things. In such moments of reckless abandon, anything goes; from the absurd, embarrassing to the downright stupid.
So when Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka got drunk at what looked like a house party at an unknown location in a video that has since gone viral on social media, things were bound to go south.
What, however, left many social media users both in shock and in stitches is the fact that the governor was heard begging a bottle of whisky to help him and those in attendance to, among many other strange things, seduce widows.
“We know you are Johnny Walker Black Label celebrating 12 years. We know you fear neither governors nor any other person,” begged the governor in local dialect, leaving the crowd that had milled around him laughing their heads off.
A blushing Lusaka arrested the attention of other party-goes when he began to talk to the 750ml bottle of whisky while gently and playfully tapping it, forcing the DJ to pause music. With all the attention on him, the governor proceeded to appeal to the drink.
“Energise our crucial body organs to perform progressive work, be it seducing widows,” leaving the crowd in stitches. The county chief, who was dressed in a red Jubilee branded t-shirt, requested the alcohol not to “muddle our minds and render us useless.”
He went on to beg the whisky not to deplete their strength or push them to bestiality, chasing around domestic animals for sex.
“Help us perform what you mandated us. As we open the bottle, we proceed knowing Masinde Muliro, Wachiye Wanaumbwa and all those who left us. The late Ntimama has joined them and my father is also there,” he mumbled in drunken stupor.
Just before serving the first tot, the governor is in the video seen pouring libations by sprinkling the liquor on the floor as if to appease ancestors as the wild crowd cheered him on.
“Please, give us strength. Don’t weaken our knees and all body organs especially the lower abdomen for proper use. Okay, you may now play the music,” he concluded and went on to serve the whisky, amid wild cheers.
Efforts to get a word from either the governor or his personal assistant on the hilarious off-the-wall incident proved futile.
