Hint to get second wife gets Kericho man clobbered by mother of his children

Counties

When in a drunken stupor, there are jokes men can mumble under their breath or even loudly blurt out and still get away with. Unfortunately, yelling, “I need to get a second wife for you to learn how to treat me as your husband,” is not one such jokes, as one drunk in Chelilis area, Kericho County rudely discovered last Saturday.

The man, surnamed Cheluget, is terribly ruing why he verbalised his desire to marry a second wife. The 44-year-old farmer, whose love for the bottle is legendary, couldn’t have chosen the wrong time to annoy his already disgruntled wife, only identified as Sally.

Reportedly, the man has a habit of unfairly criticising his wife whenever he cames home drunk. When he is not whining about her rotund body being a turn off, he is complaining about her lack of grace and submissiveness of a ‘proper’ wife.

He had done these on many occasions with the wife at times ignoring the belittling utterances, presuming he was just under the influence of alcohol.

On this particular day, the tipsy man after being dropped by a motorbike, allegedly picked an argument with his wife, while accusing her of delaying to serve him food.

He went ahead and castigated her for not putting in any effort to reclaim her diminishing beauty and attractiveness.

While comparing her with other women in the neighborhood, he slammed her for not appreciating him well as a husband despite him being faithful. When he realized the wife had ignored him, he went a notch higher and made his future plans known.

“I have been thinking of bringing you a co-wife. It seems you need some company to help you take care of your husband,” he reportedly sneered.

To worsen matters, he decried his wife had since failed to make their marriage romantic and therefore a younger, second wife was necessary.

henpecked man

The thought of being relegated to second in pecking order wasn’t amusing to his wife. While boiling with fury, she warned the husband not to try bring in any woman to their home.

The man arrogantly dismissed her while insisting that he had the right to marry a second wife, and the least she could do was to welcome her fellow wife.

To prove her point, she went for the husband, grabbed him by the collar and hurled him on the ground, even as he apologised, claiming he was only but joking. Due to his lack of balance and stamina, he couldn’t fight back. He, instead, hurled insults at her while trying to break free.

Having tolerated his antics for long, she vented her frustrations by throwing punches and elbowing the poor man all over the face. It took the timely intervention by the herdsman in the home to separate the duo.

The neigbours who had trooped to the home after hearing the distress calls were shocked to find the man sobbing. What was even surprising was that the wife had been known to be reserved and polite, and they never thought she could raise a finger on anyone.

Out of embarrassment, he slithered out of the home to avoid being ridiculed. Despite the shameful incident, the man has downplayed it, maintaining he was just drunk and therefore vulnerable to ambush of that nature.

According to the herdsman, the man is always henpecked by the wife and he only gathers courage to talk at her when drunk.
