Cheating wife struck, killed by lightning during romp with married man

Panic gripped Mia Moja village in Meru County, after a married woman who was allegedly having an intimate affair with her neighbour got struck and killed by lightning.

Reports streaming in indicate that the duo was having sex in the 28-year-old woman’s matrimonial bed as it rained outside.

Residents who spoke to journalists said that as the couple romped, lightning struck the woman killing her on the spot.

It is still unclear how the lightning struck the woman and spared the man.

Only the woman was struck and the bed they were sleeping in caught fire. The man is said to have hurriedly put on his pants and ran away from the scene.

It is said that the two have been having an illicit affair without the knowledge of the woman’s husband.

David Marete, a neighbour, said the lightning struck the woman burning her and the mattress they lay on, while the man fled. He is yet to resurface

Enjoying themselves

It is still unclear how the man escaped the tragedy unhurt. The incident shocked villagers in the area that neighbours Laikipia County.

The deceased is married to a Nairobi-based hawker, who was said to have been away in Nairobi when the incident occurred.

The couple has three children. The man is said to be a driver with the Ministry of Agriculture in Meru County and his wife worked at a supermarket in Meru town.

“It was raining heavily and the two were enjoying themselves in the woman’s matrimonial bed. Lightning struck the house and fire burnt the bed but the man escaped,” said Marete.

Surprisingly, only the bed was hit and the entire house remained intact.

Marete added that the mattress that they were lying on was also burnt completely.

Residents said the man hurriedly wore his pants and fled leaving behind the burnt body. He is yet to resurface.

Police took the body to Nanyuki Teaching and Referral hospital mortuary where it is awaiting a post-mortem.
