Men, stop complaining and make money; love can’t pay bills

The modern woman is an enigma. She is a product of the feminist revolution, which is all fine and dandy. But she is definitely not every man’s cup of tea.

Last Monday morning, a colleague came into the office huffing and puffing, and proceeded to burn Kenyan women at the stake, claiming that he once dated one who was only interested in extorting him.

His exact words were, “You meet a lady who you think is nice and as you familiarise and exchange pleasantries, you notice she is ashamedly calculating your financial worth. And based on that, she proceeds to order the most expensive meal and wine in the restaurant when you take her out. I have never been so pissed off.”

By the end of the date, my colleague had to also pay for her cab home after she claimed she had no money on her. Then a few weeks later while visiting her, she nagged him and he ended up paying for her phone credit for the month, gave her money for her hair and fake nails. He also did her weekly grocery shopping. Obviously, he was doing all this knowing too well there would be a reward between the sheets.

Being a strong believer in gender equality, I decided to do my own research and find out if there was any truth to my colleague’s ranting. And shock on me, men actually do have beef with Kenyan women, because the list of faults was long, but there were four major pet peeves that kept coming up.

Top on the list was the fact that most Kenyan women are gold diggers. That a Kenyan woman will only give a man the time of day if she knows he has money; she will not look at a man unless he drives a car. And not just a Vitz, it must be a ‘proper car’.

In line with gold digging, that the Kenyan woman thinks that a boyfriend or even a man who shows any interest in her is a living and breathing ATM who was put on this earth to make her life financially stable. One man’s exact words were, “Dating a woman in Nairobi these days is just too expensive; most seem to have this notion that men were put on this earth to pay their bills, some women are so mannerless that even after one date they have the nerve to expect you to pay their rent.”

Secondly, that the modern Kenyan woman believes that a wedding or a baby is the answer to all their problems and she is desperate and willing to do anything to get any of the two. In fact, a good number of men claimed that sometimes they simply wanted to date, but had to jump ship because they could not put up with the wedding or baby madness.

Thirdly, Kenyan women today are too wild and love to drink too much. One male friend summarised it best when he said, “If both me and my woman are out drinking, who is supposed to look after the home and children?”

And finally, that the Kenyan woman today has the worst housekeeping skills ever recorded in the history of mankind. According to many men, she cannot cook to save her life, and her cleaning and washing skills are also mediocre.

Look here gentlemen, I have news for you. Life is about money, if you don’t have enough, dating and marriage are not meant for you. Money is what keeps relationships and marriages going. If you are broke, quit whining and look for money. Love never pays bills.
