A city county clinical health officer accused of attempting to finger a Form One student has been arrested.
Cliff Okebiro, 33, allegedly fondled a 16-year-old pretending to examine a discharge from her private parts.
In an exclusive interview with The Nairobian, the minor said she had checked in at the Dandora Health Centre for normal a checkup after experiencing flu-like symptoms.
“I had a flu, headache and chest pains. But when I got into the examination room, the doctor told me to remove my jacket so that he could examine my chest,“ she narrates.
She claims that Okebiro then asked her to remove her trousers to inspect if there was any discharge as a result of her symptoms.
“While I was removing my trousers, he reached for his gloves in a nearby cabinet before telling me to part my legs, “said the student, adding that, “When I pushed his hand away and asked him why he was fingering me, he went quiet before asking me to sit so that he could figure out the right injection for my condition. He then asked me if I had ever slept with anybody, before assuring me that it was not going to hurt. “
Agnes Inyasia, the minor‘s mother said she wants nothing short of justice.
“When my daughter reported the matter to me, I was shocked. She had chest pains and nothing more, “said the angry mother. She added that: “Another woman in the niegbourhood had raised similar complaints against Okebiro. “
When The Nairobian reached the doctor over the matter, he dismissed our queries thus: “How could I have fingered a virgin? “
Okebiro who has worked at the health centre for three years added, “It is procedural for doctors to open a woman‘s labia to check if there is any discharge. If I had attempted to break her virginity, she would have raised an alarm, the 500 patients awaiting treatment would have heard her. “
A medical examination report by a government doctor acquired by The Nairobian indicates that the young girl had some bruises in her genitals. The case was reported at Dandora Police Station OB/25/20/11/2014.
The doctor was arrested but is out on Sh100,000 bail pending hearing on 15 December.
