Digital ‘juju’ for mpango wa kando

If you cheat on your spouse, your days could be numbered. There is now a software to bust those philandering partners.

Aptly named ‘Juju’, the software is installed in a suspect’s phone from where it relays all calls, Facebook and WhatsApp messages to an online portal undetected. The portal is password-locked for users, and is accessible from their phones, laptops, desktops or any other internet enabled device.

“It’s just like real juju (witchcraft), which is meant to nab the unfaithful and suspicious,” Murage Ndegwa, the software’s developer, said.

“If you want to know what your partner is up to, and the mobile provider’s log only shows communication with family members and friends, it’s time for Juju.”

Juju can listen in on all calls a person makes and trace their location. It also spies on phone activities on the Internet.

“All these are available in an online portal which shows the phone’s location, videos sent or received, records all calls made and any other activities,” says Ndegwa, adding that “and the good thing is that the owner of the phone will never suspect anything since the software is undetectable.”

More often, Ndegwa said, the phone is given to a suspect as a gift with the software already installed. This could be a philandering hubby, wife or fiancée.

“You give me the phone, I install the software and then you can give it to the person and then, just like a real spy, the software will start recording and relaying to the portal all activities of the phone,” he says.

“You may alternatively choose to borrow the phone for a few minutes and drop the ‘spy’ in via Bluetooth. It will just register in their phone as a system update”.

Juju is not only useful in cases of infidelity, but between business partners as well as other situations. Juju comes in two versions. One goes for Sh15,000 for three months, the other Sh30,000 for the same period.

“The one for Sh15,000 does not record phone calls, WhatsApp chats or locations, which means you will not know where your suspect is,” Ndegwa said.

The one for Sh30,000 will do everything from recording real time locations, phone calls to WhatsApp and other social network activities. It will also give you Internet history and videos and even Skype chats. It’s like you are the one with the phone.”

Ndegwa has been developing Juju since 2011. He has around 1,000 clients, one of whom busted his spouse on a live radio show a few months ago.

“It’s also used by organisations to check on employees they suspect of working for competitors,” Ndegwa said. “They can just distribute phones installed with the software as gifts and then monitor their employees’ activities.”

It can also be installed by parents on their house girls’ or children’s phones. “My business is to help people solve domestic problems and it’s not meant to settle scores,” the software developer says.
