A Rwandese has been charged with fraud. Kwazera Jules allegedly ordered 1,000 bags of green peas and 500 bags of beans valued at Sh11.5 million from Dorcas Mbithe via OLX on March 2.
Jules allegedly contacted Mbithe on e-mail and mobile phone using a ‘fake’ name Patrick requesting her to deliver the goods to a warehouse in Eastleigh. He then set up a meeting which he failed to honour and instead asked Mbithe to meet another person in Eastleigh identified as Yusuf.
But when Mbithe and her partner met Yusuf in his compound, he denied knowledge of any goods claiming he was just a storekeeper.
Mbithe reported the matter which led to the arrest of the accused. Jules denied the charge and was released on Sh500,000 bond and surety of similar amount. The case will be heard on September 9.
