A bishop is involved in a court battle with another pastor over a hostile relationship. Bishop Benjamin Kamu, 70, of Israel Evangelistic Church along Thika Road reported Joseph Mbugua Waweru to authorities for creating a disturbance within the compound of his church.
Police said bishop was fellowshipping with members of his church at around 10am on April 1 when the accused called him the devil.
A statement by the bishop reveals the two have been wrangling over members since July 17, 2013.
Waweru whose church is stone’s throw away has been warned before by the area chief to relocate his church for the sake for peace.
Waweru has allegedly claimed that the bishop also keeps snakes in his house to attract congregation.
The accused however denied the charge before a senior principal magistrate and was released on a cash bail of Sh100,000. His trial begins on August 27.
