Over 3,500 boda boda riders in Murang'a County have been mobilized to transport the sick, expectant mothers, and persons living with disabilities to the polling centres on August 9.

Ahadi Trust Executive Director Stanley Kamau has mobilized the riders in each of the 35 electoral wards in the county, an effort to ensure the vulnerable people are assisted to cast their votes.

Speaking at Nyangiti grounds, Mathioya constituency, Dr Kamau said the boda boda operators play a vital role and thus need to be facilitated to enable them to transport the villagers to the polling centres and back.

"Election is an important exercise and the disabled persons, expectant mothers, and the elderly require to be supported to cast their votes," said Kamau.

Muranga County Boda boda Chairman William Mwangi said transporting voters to the polling station is an important function.

"This gesture by Kamau is appreciated to ensure high voter turnout," said Mwangi.

He said that the riders have been assisting in taking the sick to hospitals, especially at night.
