#MCM – Felix Odiwuor a.k.a Jalang’o, the comic CEO

Celeb Profiles

 Comedian Jalang'o

By Sheila Kimani (@sheilakimm)

“Comedy is no joke” and a peak into the life of witty and humorous comedian Felix Odiwuor a.k.a Jalang’o Mwenyewe reveals just that.

With a green suit and a leopard print blouse as his trademark apparels, Jalong’o’s claim to fame came when he joined the local Papa Shirandula playing a relative’s. And No! It was no easy feat.

Like he has often recounted, he and Otos were supposed to star in one episode, but their spectacular performance saw the producer change the script to include them as part of the cast for years.

Born and raised in Kisumu, Jalang’o pursued his education up until class 8, after which he dropped out of school. “I am a graduate from the school of hard knocks. I have never attended any college/university; I did not even go to secondary school” He once said.

But that didn’t stop him from hassling and getting the best out of life!

Having lived in various slums across Nairobi, and even once working at Industrial area, Jalang’o fell in love with acting. Often he would be at the Kenya National theatre trying out different roles in the different plays, and even acting out the set books. This was up until his role on Papa Shirandula.

A few months later and Jalang’o was a co-host on the Kiss 100 morning show alongside Larry and Carol Mutoko.

From them on, he was on a steady rise, growing to become one of Kenya’s super MCs, comedian, radio presenter, entertain-prenure and much more.

Besides leaving his audiences in stitches, Jalang’o is a proud family man with his young daughter Salika aged 4.

With his company Arena media organizing some of the best events, and shows in town, Jalang’o is determined to leave a mark in this industry.

His humor, determination and memorable personality are the reason why he is our MCM today.
