Students who expect to be mothers while studying at Kenyatta University can now rest easy.
The university will launch a baby care centre which will be able to manage at least 200 babies. The centre will be adjacent to Ghana II, a few metres from Kenyatta University Primary School.
University students can now have their babies cared for as they chew studies.
Lecturers who are still in the baby bearing age have sighed with relief as their children will be taken care of by professional caregivers. These services will be offered at a fee.
A similar facility is already operational at Egerton University after being launched last July.
The facility caters for infants as their mothers, mostly students, catch up with classwork.
The centre so far has 53 children who are served by 7 caregivers who clean and feed them.
