Kenya Urban Roads Authority warns Kenyan Prince after risky fire stunt on busy public road

Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has condemned popular influencer Raymond Omosa, popularly known as Kenyan Prince, after staging a fire stunt on a busy public road to celebrate his 23rd birthday.

In a reply message on X, the authority urged Kenyans to act responsibly and avoid endangering lives and damaging infrastructure.

"We understand the enthusiasm that comes with celebrating achievements. However, the act of lighting fires on public roads is unacceptable," KURA wrote.

"It endangers lives, disrupts public safety, and causes long-term damage to our roads. Let's act responsibly and refrain from such actions," the authority added.

This comes after the popular influencer shared a video of himself lighting up a fire on a public road, staged to light up in the pattern of '23' so as to signify his newly turned age.

One X user, Gustavo, tagged the authority as well as the Kenya National Highways Authority, urging them to take action.

"Hey @KeNHAKenya and @KURAroads. This is day 3 of reminding you to do your jobs. Someone posed a risk of destruction to government property with evidence attached, and you guys haven't done anything," he wrote, to which the authority replied.

The incident intensified ongoing concerns over TikTok personalities who increasingly perform dangerous stunts in public spaces.

Online, public reaction has been sharp.

Many Kenyans criticised the Kenyan Prince for recklessness, saying a minor error could have caused severe injuries.

Others condemned what they saw as blatant disregard for public property, arguing that social media fame should never come at the expense of human life or public infrastructure.

Who is Kenyan Prince?

Kenyan Prince is a prominent and controversial figure in the Kenyan digital space.

He gained significant public attention, particularly among the youth, by aggressively showcasing a lavish lifestyle and claiming that his wealth was generated through successful Forex trading.

His online presence, primarily on platforms like TikTok and YouTube, involves flaunting luxury items, fast cars, and engaging in large public giveaways, portraying himself as a young, self-made millionaire who has achieved financial freedom outside the traditional job market.

However, his claims of success are frequently met with scepticism and controversy.

While he is celebrated by many followers as an inspiring embodiment of the 'hustle' culture and a champion of youth empowerment, critics and media outlets have raised serious questions regarding the actual legitimacy and source of his perceived immense wealth.
