They famously ended their engagement 17 years ago and it appears that Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are making up for lost time as they venture out on yet another public date.

The reunited lovers were snapped looking smitten with each other as they travelled home from a dinner date in Beverly Hills on Friday night.

The couple, who rekindled their romance earlier this year, were pictured sharing a joke in the back of a chauffeur-driven car as they departed authentic Greek restaurant, Avra.

The 51-year-old star looked immaculate as she showed off her enviable legs in tailored high-waisted shorts, teamed with an off-white blazer.

Donning sparkling gold accessories and a mahogany Yves Saint Laurent handbag, the Get Right singer looked tanned and healthy as she wore her caramel locks tied back in a chic pony.

Her actor beau opted for a more casual look - 48-year-old Ben was pictured sporting some stubble as he wore leather-look trainers and jeans for his romantic outing.

While their reconciliation almost two decades on since they last dated rocked the showbiz world, the news wouldn't have shocked friends of Jennifer who have revealed she always saw the Pearl Harbour actor as "the one that got away."

The loved-up couple first met back in 2002 on the set of their critically-panned film, Gigli. At the time, the Love Don't Cost a Thing singer was still married to her second husband, Cris Judd.

In April 2002, the dad-of-three got tongues wagging when he took out a full-page advert in trade magazines to compliment his co-star.

“I only wish I were lucky enough to be in all your movies.” Signed: “With love, respect, and gratitude, Ben Affleck," was one of the gushing sentiments included in the tribute.

Jennifer went on to file for divorce from Cris in July 2002 and embarked on a very public relationship with Ben, which eventually led to the actor proposing to the star just months later in November 2002.

Of course, it wasn't to be and the pair split in January 2004, with Jennifer alleged to be the one that ended things with the Good Will Hunting star.

However, while she may have been the one to initiate the break up, friends have revealed she was devastated by the end of their engagement.

"Jennifer always saw Ben as the one that got away," an insider told Page Six earlier this week.

"She was crushed after they broke up, though she felt at the time that she had no other choice but to call off their engagement."

Their second shot at love in 2021 comes after the mum-of-two called things quits with ex-fiancé Alex Rodriguez in April this year after a two-year engagement.

At first, it was reported that the baseball star, also known as A-Rod, was keen to patch things up with the Jenny From the Block singer.

However, Jennifer's frequent public displays of affection with her new lover has forced the athlete to accept that that things are over and move on, according to insiders close to the star.

"When they first split, he wanted to work things out, and still held on to hope that he and J.Lo would get back together," a source told ET.

"He's come to terms with the fact that it's over now."
