TV anchor Shiksha Arora robbed, strangled in globe roundabout

News
 TV anchor Shiksha Arora.

Media personality Shiksha Arora has narrated the harrowing ordeal she went through in the hands of robbers around the globe roundabout in Nairobi CBD.

Shiksha, who is part of the new anchors at the re-launch of the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC), said three thugs attacked her while in her car on Monday evening, 21 June.

In a thread on Twitter, the former K24 news anchor narrated how the three thugs worked together and attempted to steal her belongings.

“Yesterday at around 5:20 PM I got robbed at the globe roundabout flyover. Guy 1 knocked my side mirror bending it backwards & walked away. While I was rolling down my window slightly to reposition the mirror, guy 2 started banging the front seat passenger window loudly.

“As I was looking to my left guy 3 slid his hand in through my window and unlocked my car, got into the back seat. Grabbed my purse & asked for my phone, at this point in time I was in panic mode, couldn’t say anything. He asked for it again & reached for my neck, strangling me,” narrated Shiksha.

Shiksha says she was traumatized by the ordeal.

Traumatized by the ordeal, Shiksha says she started hooting loudly to get attention from the other motorists, and luckily, a few people got out of their cars.

“As he was strangling my neck, I desperately gasped for air, I started hooting loudly to get some attention hoping somebody would help me. People started getting out of their cars and that’s when he let go and fled. He went with my purse but I am TRAUMATIZED that he attacked me,” said Shiksha.

Following her experience, Shiksha warned other motorists not to roll down their windows while at the globe roundabout, adding that the thugs work in teams to steal in broad daylight.

The anchor’s ordeal comes at a time when Nairobians have been complaining of the rise of insecurity in CBD.

During the #EngageTheIG session on Twitter yesterday, Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai assured Kenyans that action would be taken on the perpetrators and security enhanced in the CBD.
