Janet Jackson breaks down in tears as album reaches top of charts 35 years after release

Janet Jackson was reduced to tears when one of her iconic albums returned to the top of the charts decades after its original release. The 54-year-old music legend was overwhelmed with gratitude and emotion when her 1986 album, Control, hit the top of a US chart last week.

Fans had bought the album to help the music star celebrate the fact it had been 35 years since it was first released. And the reward proved to be overwhelmingly sweet for Ms Jackson as she saw the album – which includes hit singles What Have You Done For Me Lately, Nasty and Control – reach number 1 again.
