I’m single: Esma Platnumz confirms her marriage is over months after wedding

Esma Khan, sister to Bongo singer Diamond Platnumz has confirmed her marriage is over months after she was married as a third wife. Through a Q & A session on Instagram, Esma declared she's single not long after tying the knot with Yahya Msizwa in July 2020.

“Naskia umeachika?” posed one of her followers and she responded with a ‘yes’. However, another follower hit the nail on the head, posing “Are you still together with Msizwa?” and Esma said, “nop, I am single.” Esma further said even though she wouldn't accept another marriage proposal should a suitor express interest in marrying her, she still believes in true love as “it never dies.”

Doesn’t rule out ex

In the Q &A session, Esma did not rule out the possibility of having another child with her ex, Petit Man who she has a daughter named Taraji with. Asked on whether they are on talking terms, Esma wrote, “Yes, we call each other as one would a co-parent. We don't have beef.”

Another follower further inquired on whether she still loves Petit Man and she said, “Why not? I love him as my co-parent.” On whether she’d sire another child with him, Esma wrote: “maybe later, God willing, inshallah.”

Diamond’s exes

Esma, who’s Diamond half-sister as they share a mother but are from different dads further admitted that her children sorely miss Tanasha Donna as they were quite close during the Kenyan singer’s stint dating her brother.

“(My children) miss her (Tanasha) a lot,” she said, before affirming her love for Tanasha’s son Naseeb Junior.

However, Esma refused to pick a favourite among Diamond’s baby mamas, saying “I just love all of them.”

No qualms being a third wife

After her wedding to Msizwa, Esma sought to put to rest talk about her being his third wife.

“Surely, this is my personal life and the decision I made, I did so by my own will, not to please anyone. People should understand that I love my husband so much. Also, I don’t see the problem with me being married as the third wife because our religion allows it,” she said.

Step-dad’s warning

While congratulating her on her union, her step-dad and Diamond’s biological father Abdul Juma warned her that marriage is not a walk in the park.

“Get the right teachings on marriage and respect your husband and his family. Do not be rude, in short just be obedient as though you were in school because marriage faces constant tests,” he said, adding, “I’m just praying she understands her new role as a wife and settles down. Let it not be that one time she is here, the next time she is there- that’s not nice.”

Petit Man breakup

Two years ago, Ema and Petit Man’s marriage ended following rumours he’d cheated on her and sired a child. After their split, Esma vowed not to get into another long term relationship, saying that true love no longer existed.

“In simple terms, I don’t want any relationship or mention anything to do with marriage. Even if someone came today and told me they wanted to marry me I’ll know they are no different because there is no true love in this times we are living in,” she said at the time.

Not long after, Esma was confronted by Zanzibar-based singer Jamila Abdallah alias Baby J on claims that she had snatched her husband despite being aware that they have a young child together. According to Baby J, her husband and Esma masked their affair with the brother-sister title. Esma refused to speak on the matter when reached for comment.
