Many celebrities often take up ‘stage names’ for various reasons; perhaps their real names are considered dull, unattractive, unintentionally amusing, difficult to pronounce or spell, have been used by other notable persons or project an undesired image.

You may have never heard of Abubakar Radido or Nyamari Ogengu in the showbiz circles but you’ve definitely heard of Willy Paul and Nyashinski. We all know them by their stage names, but it is amusing that most people don’t know the names of their favourite musicians.

Nadia Mukami:  She was born in Nairobi, Pumwani Hospital, as Nadia Mukami Mwendo. Nadia started out as a radio host ‘Saturday Hip-hop Count’ at Equator FM. She would later leave media to kick start her career in music. She was formerly known as Nadia Xclusive. Her birthday is on November 9. She comes from a staunch Christian family and is the fourth born in their family. Nadia won the coveted Best Female Artist, Pulse Music Video awards last year.

Khaligraph Jones: The 30-year-old multi-award-winning self-proclaimed best rapper in Africa, Brian Robert Ouko, is the founder and CEO of Blu Ink. He made his debut in 2004 as a gospel singer. They were a duo with singer Hopekid from Kayole. He was only 13 years old but four years down the line the duo split and he went as a solo artiste into the murky world of secular music. Papa Jones was born in 1990 and his birthday is on June 12, in Kayole.

At the age of 14 Natalie relocated to Ohio with her parents and became a cheerleader. Despite her busy schedule, she still plays badminton and table tennis from time to time.
