Former America's Got Talent host Nick Cannon has hit out at the owner of MTV after he was fired from his TV job for vile anti-Semitic remarks. Yesterday, the rapper and presenter, 33, was fired by the network owners ViacomCBS for comments that included calling white people "savages" and that black people that "are the true Hebrews". He had been speaking to Professor Griff on his podcast Cannon's Class for its June 30 episode. Professor Griff claimed to Nick that he left rap group Public Enemy because of comments he made about Jews in 1989. He told Nick that he was talking about Jews controlling the media, adding: "I'm hated now because I told the truth."
Nick responded: "You're speaking facts." Following a statement on Monday addressing his remarks, the contents did not appear to satisfy Nick's employer, ViacomCBS, who he has worked for for over 20 years. The successful Wild 'N Out brand on the network had been created by Nick, but this will now be brought to an end. ViacomCBS said in a statement: "While we support ongoing education and dialogue in the fight against bigotry, we are deeply troubled that Nick has failed to acknowledge or apologize for perpetuating anti-Semitism, and we are terminating our relationship with him."
