The death of Maina Njenga’s wife, Virginia Nyakio, was never planned. The millions she carried when police went to murder her driver was too tempting — witnesses were never to be left alive. Nyakio was one such witness.
The death squad had been instructed to eliminate Mungiki adherent, Ndungu wa Wagacha, who was trailed and waylaid alongside Nyakio. The two were taken to Ngong Forest for the night, before being driven towards Emali along Mombasa Road the following day.
