A previously unheard track on a new Michael Jackson album is about child sex abuse. The song – Do You Know Where Your Children Are? – is one of eight recorded by the late star to feature on the May release of Xscape.
The lyrics tell of an abused 12-year-old who runs away from home and turns to prostitution. In one verse, Jackson sings, “She wrote that she is tired of step-daddy using her/Saying that he’ll buy her things, while sexually abusing her.” Some fans believe that the song – which includes repetition of the phrase, “save me from this living hell” – was written as a direct response to sexual abuse claims made against him.
