Singer Nyamari Ongegu popularly known as Nyashinski has been appointed as Samsung’s brand ambassador. While announcing the partnership, Samsung assured their support for local talent.

“Samsung is committed to deepening our partnership with local talent. In our eyes, Nyashinski has time and time again, personified our brand ethos – Do What You Can’t. He is an artist with a purpose and a musician who brings people joy, which is why Samsung is proud to be associated with him,” said Charles Kimari, Head of Mobile at Samsung Kenya.

Speaking during his unveiling, the singer revealed that he was happy to work with the tech-giant, saying that it is an honour to work with a company that challenges him.

“I look forward to connecting my fans with technology that makes life better in new ways. Any brand that challenges you to do what you can’t and gives you the tools to do it is a brand I believe in,” said Nyashinski.

Last month, the popular singer released his highly anticipated debut solo album “Lucky You”. The pre-release performance with the 4 Count Band featured a total of 19 songs, including 6 from the new album.

“It took a lot of preparation including getting the band and support teams to live in a rental residence in Nairobi for the period of practice and concert,” he said adding that  “We went an extra mile and brought in healthcare professionals to conduct health checks on the team before rehearsals.”

In the last four years since returning from a decade long sojourn in the U.S, he has released a string of hit singles “Now You Know”, “Mungu Pekee”, “Malaika”, “Aminia” and “Lift Me Up”, but there hadn’t been a complete, solo album.

“The making of an album requires a lot of inspiration, dedication, commitment and takes time to perfect and that is why I did not want to rush the making of this album,” he narrated.

The album is a representation of Nyashinski’s strengths as an artiste, showcasing his lyrical prowess with stinging jabs on naysayers on the title track, and the streetwise tracks “Wach Wach” and “Too Much”.

He revealed that while creating good music, one has to be fully themselves and feel every single moment.

“Creating good music boils down to coming up with a good concept. You must wear your creative hat and be yourself to wholly express the message within you,” he said.

According to Nyash, he observes the world with a keen eye hence, his creative juices keep flowing.

“I draw my influences from the world and everything in it. And that is why I can put together different sounds and messages in my music,” he added.

The artist and his wife Zippy Jepkemei welcomed their first child together three months after their nuptials.

“Thank you, God, for the most precious gift,” posted the Kenyan music star. Sources close to the Mungu Pekee hit maker revealed that the rapper wanted to keep his private life away from the public, including news of his child’s birth.
