Celebrated Tanzanian gospel artist Bahati Bukuku has responded to claims that she allegedly conned a Congolese Bishop.

Bukuku denied the allegations that first appeared on Tanzanian newspaper that she conned Bishop Wamwabi Ksh100, 000 as false.

In her response, the singer claimed that the promoters used her name to purport that she was going to perform in Congo yet it was not in the agreement.

“They advertised the event using my name saying I was going to perform at the concert. That wasn’t the agreement. We had also agreed in our contract that they will send me air fare, but they did not. So, did they expect me to land in Congo through a miracle? Tanzanians know my character. I haven’t conned anyone. I am God’s servant,” said Bukuku.

Bukuku was on the spot early this month over claims she received Sh100,000 to perform but did not to show up.

It is alleged that she had been contracted by Bishop Wamwabi to perform at the concert in May 2018 for KSh 200,000, and had received a down payment of Ksh100, 000.

She, however, failed to show up and ignored calls from the bishop and organizers of the event as the D-day neared.

This fueled to an extend that the Bishop used his close ties with top government officials to have the ‘Esther’ hit maker allegedly banned from entering Congo.
