Diamond Platnumz becomes first African artist to go platinum

The bongo artist has made history by becoming the first African artist to get six time platinum sales on his single ‘Marry You’ featuring Ne-yo.

With over 17 million views on YouTube, the song that dropped eight months ago has left Diamond smiling all the way to the bank and he took to his social media to share the good news.

Introduced in 1976, platinum certification stands for the sale of one million units, albums or singles with the gold certification redefined to mean sales of 500,000 units, album or single.

Congratulatory messages have continued to pour in after he broke the big news yesterday. And among those who sent their messages was none other than Zari.

Diamond was at the universal studios in South Africa where he was presented with the plaque.
