Tanzanian singer Ray C cried painfully on video after being denied Methadone, a drug used by ex-addicts as a pain reliever and treatment to heroin addiction.

Ray C, born Rehema Chalamila, has been using the drug for the past two years in helping to prevent withdrawal symptoms.

The Na Wewe Milele singer took to her official Instagram account on Friday, June 12 to post videos which show her in tears expressing her disappointment with the centre mandated to issue the drugs.

Sad and helpless, she informed her followers her predicament, “Nashindwa kuvumilia. Mpaka sasa nipo hapa kitengo cha madawa na sijapewa dawa, kwa sababu nilipost ile post nyingine wamenifanyia makusudi.

She further questioned if the facility officials would love it if she gets back to her old ways,“Sasa mimi nikikosa madawa wanataka nirudi kwenye kuvuta unga?

Tearful Ray C threw jabs at the drug-issuing institution for giving time ultimatums to users just like schools do to pupils, yet there are some who travel from far and wide, making it difficult to arrive there within stipulated time.

In yet another video, the singer cries of headache, body pains, bone aches, and cold citing ignorance from the health centre as it is much aware of such consequences which manifest on users if they don’t take the drug.

Fortunately, Ray C’s tearful videos which went viral paid off as her pleas were heard and she was issued with the drug a few hours later.

The noticeably relieved singer once again took to Instagram to inform her followers by means of video and caption about the much needed aid that came her way.

“Namshkuru Mungu kwamba chozi langu limesikika na jioni hii nimepewa dawa,” reads her caption in part.

She further adds the ‘respect’ she gives to the drug which she calls her ‘life-saver’, “Naiheshimu hii dawa kuliko kitu kingine chochote katika dunia hii, dawa hii imeniokoa kutoka kule nilikotoka… Nitafanya lolote niwezalo kuipata dawa hii kwani hii ndio mwokozi wangu.

Ray C who now runs an anti-drugs campaign was admitted in rehab facility in 2012 after confessing to being introduced to illegal drugs by her then boyfriend. She even revealed selling her house and property to raise money for buying drugs.
