The National Super Alliance (NASA) principals Saturday  accused the Jubilee regime of failing to implement the Truth Justice and Reconciliation Commission (TJRC) report.

NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga said if he elected on August 8, the perpetrators of historical injustices named in the report will be arrested and prosecuted or forced to compensate those they wronged.

“I will make sure those perpetrators mentioned in the TJRC report will face the full force of the law. They will not escape even if they shelve it (report) for the next generation,” Raila told a rally in Hola, Tana River.

Inventing lies

The coalition’s leaders accused President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy, William Ruto, of inventing lies and excuses that the implementation of the report would lead to chaos.

Raila said Jubilee was hoodwinking the public through what he termed as cosmetic land reforms in a bid to protect large land grabbers.

He said implementing the report was the only way to solve the historial land injustices that bedevils the Coast region.

“Jubilee is now looking for excuses after failing to implement the report that would have solved the historical land injustices that face our people here in the Coast,” he said.

The NASA leaders started a tour of the Coast Saturday , barely three days after President Uhuru Kenyatta toured the region to campaign for his re-election. In his tour, the President promised the Coast people that he will solve the squatter problem.

The President toured Lamu, Kilifi, Mombasa, Kwale and Taita Taveta counties, which are home to thousands of squatters.

He said the Jubilee administration has issued more than 300,000 title deeds in the Coast, which he added was the first step to enrich the Coast people.

Uhuru said the 300,000 title deeds are part of the more than 3.5 million the Jubilee Government has issued in the last four years across the country.

During last week’s tour, the President issued 2,000 title deeds to landowners in Lamu County and 20,000 to Taita Taveta residents.

Raila, however, dismissed these efforts and accused DP Ruto of misleading the President over the TJRC report to protect his “selfish interest”.

Raila’s running mate Kalonzo Musyoka said the dawn-to-dusk curfew imposed on Tana River and Lamu counties is a plan by the Jubillee government to rig the August 8 election.

He, however, said no single vote will be stolen as most Kenyans will be keenly watching.

Turned away

“How will people cast their ballots if the voting continues into the curfew period? This means they will be turned away because they know Tana River is a NASA zone,” said Kalonzo.

Wetang’ula said Jubilee has sensed defeat and is now looking for all means to manipulate the election results by chasing away voters from polling stations.
