Police in Rarieda have arrested two suspects who allegedly broke into a primary school and stole 16 laptops provided to the learning institution by the government.
The two suspects, one of whom is a standard six pupil at Wagoro Primary School in Kokwiri sub-location, were arrested on Thursday by the area assistant chief David Opala Ongoro.
According to the administrator, the 14-year-old boy was used by the other suspect identified as Gabriel Akuom, 22, to steal the laptops from the head teacher's office on Monday night.
"We received the report from the school about the loss of the gadgets and investigation led us to the two. We recovered three of the 16 stolen laptops from the minor," he said.
Speaking to The Standard, the school's headteacher Mr Walter Oyaro said that he noticed that the suspects who had gained entry through the window had broken into his office.
He added that upon inquiry, the boy volunteered information and even led them to their home where three laptops were recovered.
"He also told us that he was working with the man who is a neighbour who was later arrested," he said.
According to the headteacher, the pupil also disclosed that he had visited the school on two occasions at night in the company of his accomplice and reportedly took away the gadgets after he was promised some money.
The assistant chief claimed that the police released Akuom on October 19 since he had another case.
Rarieda police boss Thomas Ototo confirmed the arrest, saying police arrested them after intelligence information they received from the assistant chief.
"We have launched Investigations to recover the other gadgets and arrest more suspects involved," he said.
