Kenya private schools in need of security as public institutions strike, officials tell State

ELDORET: Officials from private schools in the North Rift have expressed worry over the fate of their students and want the Government to provide security at their schools.

They said there is anxiety in private schools, which are currently going on with their studies even as learning is paralysed in public institutions for the fourth week.

Speaking during a consultative meeting in Eldoret, which brought on board officials from the North Rift and Western regions, Kenya Private Schools Association (KPSA) National Treasurer Dolly Anjili said most schools feel insecure and expressed the need for security in order to ensure student safety.

"Our main concern are the private school students going on with studies while their counterparts are at home. Fellow members are concerned that students might be traumatised and there is a possibility of being victimised," she said.

Uasin Gishu KPSA Branch Chairperson Antony Ndung'u asked striking teachers from public schools to go back to school.
