Sever ties with Muthama, leaders tell Kalonzo

By DANIEL NZIA

Ukambani politics took a dramatic twist yesterday with leaders calling on Wiper Democratic Movement leader Kalonzo Musyoka to sever his ties with Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama.

The leaders led by Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua claimed Muthama has hatched a plan to “finish” Kalonzo politically by setting him against elected leaders.

Dr Mutua said Muthama has launched a campaign to weaken leaders who are Kalonzo’s political pillars in their areas.

“Muthama is carrying out a plan to finish Wiper leader by attacking elected leaders loyal to him so that they abandon him alone,” said a fuming Mutua.

The leaders, who included Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr, MPs Dr Victor Munyaka, Joel Mutambu, Charles Nyamai, Itwiku Mbai, Vincent Musyoka, Dr Susan Musyoka, Robert Mbui and Stephen Mule and a host of Members of the County Assembly were speaking in Machakos town during the launch of the refurbished Kenyatta Stadium.

Mutambu told Kalonzo to immediately delink himself from Muthama, failure to which elected Wiper will delink themselves from him.

Dr Mutua and Muthama have been embroiled in turf political wars since their election.

Muthama has been accusing the governor of doing things without consulting other leaders as should be the case.
