PS warns chiefs against seeking bribes

Labour and Social Services PS Susan Mochache

Labour and Social Services Principal Secretary Susan Mochache has warned chiefs against demanding bribes from elderly persons seeking to register for the State-funded kitty for the aged.

Ms Mochache said those found seeking bribes to register the elderly would be punished.

Speaking during the launch of the programme in Gucha sub-county yesterday, Mochache said the Inua Jamii programme was a Government initiative meant to assist the elderly for free.

She advised those who have been asked to give bribes to report to the nearest Social Development or county commissioner’s offices.

“The only qualification required for registration is to be over 70 years old. Nothing else should be demanded from them,” she said. [Edwin Biyogo]
