FOOD PRICE CRISIS: Pointers as to why it could have been stage-managed

The fact that the recently imported maize had just been kept in South Africa till the prices were just right shows the country is full of corrupt individuals who do not mind about the welfare of the State and its citizens.

It is also unimaginable that, in spite of the imports, the Government is not certain on when maize prices are expected to come down, with the PS saying the prices would be determined by the market forces. There must be persons behind this, as in normal circumstances, the country should have imported the maize long before the food crisis reached such a critical level. This, nevertheless, indicates that there are loopholes which have not been taken care of for a long time.
