A middle-aged man on the run after killing his wife over uncooked meat

A middle-aged man from Bungoma County is on the run after allegedly killing his wife for delaying to serve him with supper.

Addressing the media on Monday, Tom Opande who is the neighbor of the deceased said that Onyango Oloo a thirty-four-year-old man came home drunk with a piece of meat instructing his wife to cook it.

According to him, Onyango kept on disturbing the wife by telling her to serve him with the meat yet it was not fully cooked. That led to a misunderstanding between the couple that made Onyango do the heinous act. Enraged Onyango locked her wife in the house after setting her ablaze and ran away.

Opande said that they heard a distress call from the woman and rushed to the scene only to find Onyango’s wife who was in the house burnt and in a critical condition.

“ We heard her crying at the top of her voice saying that she is dying. At first, we thought she was just joking but when we rushed to see we found out that it was true she was in a critical condition after being burnt by the husband,” said Opande.

The woman was rushed to Khalaba Hospital where he died while receiving treatment. The residents have condemned the incident saying it was better for the couple to seek help from other people if they had any problem.

Meanwhile, the police have launched an investigation over the killing to exactly established what might have led to the incident.
