GOVERNORS PLEAD WITH DOCTORS TO GIVE DIALOGUE A CHANCE

The Council of Governors (CoG) Vice chairman Governor John Mruttu has urged doctors to soften their stand and give dialogue a chance in order to end their stalemate.

Addressing the media in his office on Friday, Governor Mruttu said the union should respect the rule of law at all times adding that the last fifty-three days have been hell for citizens as doctors down their tools demanding a better pay.

"The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union was formulated by a provision in law it is, therefore, ironical for the union to defy a court order. You can't choose to only comply with the law when it suits you," said Governor Mruttu

He has also warned against the rampant strikes saying they will contribute to inflating the wage bill thus affecting development.

This comes as the Industrial court gives the union five more days to call off the strike or face jail term while KMPDU demands public negotiations with the government.
