NAIROBI: In about 13 months, Kenya hopes to hold a general election. For many Kenyans, the experience of election day is constructed like this: you arrive at the polling station and take your place in the queue. After some waiting, you present your identification and voter's card in exchange for a number of ballot papers.
You then consider the merits of each candidate and cast your vote. Thereafter, you leave to await the outcome away from the polling station. On paper, the process appears fairly simple and straightforward.
