Over the Easter weekend, one man has been in the mouths of many and on even more timelines on Twitter.
Calls have been made to have him arrested for incitement over an article he penned in one of the local dailies.
The truth is that the #ArrestNdii hashtag is one of the most hypocritical in the recent past. The Kenyans asking for Dr Ndii's arrest are the same ones who behind closed doors promote tribalism; tribal bigotry underlies their political undertones and are the same people who cheer on when ethnic bile is spewed by our political class.
Dr David Ndii just translated the thoughts of many to English and had them published.
The article, in my opinion, in its entirety was meant to be satirical. The call to secession was only but to serve as a wakeup call from our ethnic slumber.
It was a call for us to rally behind each other and promote nationalism. In honesty, Kenyans need a shift from the 'my people' and 'my tribe' narrative to a 'my nation' tale.
It is high time Kenyans realised how fragile we have become as a nation due to tribalism.
Questions now need to be raised and issues addressed on negative ethnicity lest we get to that dreaded point of secession or worse.
So, in the words of our national anthem, let all with one accord in common bond united build this our nation together. We are not at a point of considering divorce, at least not yet.
