This morning, KDF troops operating under AMISOM foiled two al shabaab attacks in the area of Damasa in Gedo region.
In the first incident, KDF troops from Elade to Damasa on normal operation duties encountered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) that exploded on the roadside. The troops were engaged in a fire fight with an estimated 20 al Shabaab militia, killing three while the rest fled. Two AK 47 rifles, a mobile phone and a radio were recovered after the incident.
