Kenyan international handball player Cajitan Ywaya who turns out for Finland’s second division Kiffen handball Club desires for a top tier stint next season after an impressive 32-23 win over Esbo IF in the playoffs on Tuesday.
The goalkeeper who played for division one Team handball for three seasons before joining Kiffen this season says it will be a dream come true to play in the top flight league once again after he left HC West in 2009-2010 season.
“We are leading the best of three series 0-1 and if we win our return match this Thursday at home, we will not need to play the third and final series because it will only be a formality,” said Ywaya who played for men’s regional and domestic reigning champions National Cereals and produce Board (NCPB).
The father of one said they started the match sluggishly conceding easily in the first half but reorganized in the second half to take home the win.
“I had a 38% saving record, not good enough but made important saves in the second half. We are looking forward to finish off the job today at home with an improved team performance especially sealing the loopholes that were exposed in the first match,” said Ywaya.
The Helsinki-based side finished second this season behind Island Boys who earned an automatic qualification to division one and had to battle against Esbo for the three series playoff.
Ywaya, who at the moment pursuing an online degree in Sports Management hopes to better his career through hard work.
“My future plan is to engage myself as much as possible in the game back home. Having had both doors and windows of opportunity tightly shut during my stint back home, I would like to enlighten players the much I can. It would be of great interest to me to conduct goalkeeping trainings and camps in order to raise a crop of better quality in future,” added Ywaya saying this is an area which has been neglected all along.
