Muhoroni Youth part with coach Imonje, warn AFC Leopards ahead of KPL fixture

Kenyan Premier League (KPL) side Muhoroni Youth have parted ways with Coach Alfred Imonje who becomes another casualty in a competitive league.

The club agreed to release Imonje, who has been on leave, over what it termed as ‘a change in strategy’

“We are grateful for the contribution Imonje has made in the team but for now we don’t believe he can take us where we want to go and have agreed by mutual consent to release him,” said the club’s chairman Moses Adagala.

The coach had earlier been sent on a three week leave and is believed to have landed a coaching role with the Somali national team.

In a related development, Adagala has warned Leopards their opponents during Saturday’s KPL match at Afraha Stadium to expect a tough time when they meet.

God on our side

A confident Adagala, said  they will be going all out for a win in the game, and in a show of optimism, assured that the team will be handed the match’s winning allowances today just two days before the match.

His source of confidence, and by extension the club’s, is based on their faith going into the game after holding prayers for the remaining matches of the season. “We have God on our side and so are under no pressure as we continue working for a top-half finish.

“We are going for a win in the game — that’s what we are working for and we will surprise many. We are in good shape at the moment and after holding prayers for the club’s remaining matches, we know by faith God is on our side and we head to this game under no pressure at all,” he said.

Adagala added: “We will be paying our players their winning allowances on Thursday ahead of the game and we know we are winning this match as part of our push to finish in the top eight.”

A win for Muhoroni will complete a double over AFC Leopards after they managed a 2– 1 win over the Nairobi side in the first leg.
