KENYA: Members of Parliament have been challenged to seek legal redress in their pay stalemate.

The legislators have also been asked to act in the best interest of Kenyans as they undertake responsibilities bestowed upon them by the law.

A meeting between the office of the Commission on Administrative Justice and the various constitutional commissions heads resolved that MPs must also be cautioned against personalised attacks even as they seek a solution to the salaries stalemate.

Speaking after the meeting at a Nairobi hotel, the commission’s chair Otiende Amollo said it would be wrong for MPs to reduce the number constitutional commissions or even to slash the budgets.

“The legislators should act within the law and also look at the bigger picture. Each commission must have the required budget to perform its functions which is a service to Kenyans,” he said.
