Two terror suspects were shot dead in Majengo, Mombasa and four others escaped during a police raid on Saturday night.

Deputy coast police boss John Gachomo said they recovered three live grenades, a pistol, 36 rounds of ammunition and communication gadgets.

He said police were led to the suspects’ house by a Samaritan.

“A man arrested in a bus along Mombasa- Nairobi Highway led us to a house in Mtwapa where we recovered some weapons and later led us to Majengo,” he said.

Gachomo said at Majengo a shootout broke out leading to killing of one.

“We killed one suspect in the house and the one we were holding as he tried to run away. The rest of the suspects in the house escaped.”

He added that they are hunting for the escapees.

The deceased were taken to Coast General Hospital Mortury where muslims gathered and demanded to be handed the suspects  for burial as they were not interested in post mortem results.

Tension is high in the area over fears of protests.
