In a display of sheer excitement and anticipation, thousands of children from Mathira flocked to Iruri village to celebrate Boxing Day at the residence of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

The vibrant atmosphere was filled with laughter and merry-making as the children engaged in many captivating activities designed for them.

Under the warm sun, the air filled with delightful sounds of children's laughter, they immersed themselves in face painting, transforming into their favorite superheroes, animals, and fantasy characters.

The talented artists intricately brushed vibrant colors onto their innocent canvases, turning their little faces into captivating works of art.

The bouncing castles standing tall, offered an irresistible invitation for the children to bounce, leap, and twirl in a world of pure joy.

Their infectious giggles and squeals of delight filled the air, blending harmoniously with the vibrant misic beats that resonated throughout the festive gathering.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, true to his word, actively participated in the festivities, joining the children in their celebrations with a contagious smile on his face.

He interacted with each child, spreading warmth and kindness, making them feel valued and cherished.

In his message, the DP praised the successful implementation of the competence-based curriculum (CBC) and highlighted the employment of additional teachers, as recommended by the Presidential Working Party on Education, as a crucial factor contributing to the effectiveness of the curriculum.

"To address concerns about the shortage of teachers affecting the success of the CBC, the Kenya Kwanza administration has taken significant steps by employing over 56,000 teachers to bridge the teacher-pupil ratio," he said.

Gachagua expressed his satisfaction with the progress in the fight against illicit brews in the central region.

"As I drove around my neighborhood, I noticed that most of the youth were sober, this is a good indication that we are winning in the fight, so far, we are at 70 percent," he said.

"We are happy that the DP has organized this day for our kids. We can see they are enjoying," Mary Wambui, a parent said.

Agnes Wangeshi, a 12-year-old child, said she was happy to spend a joy-filled day at the DP's compound, playing with other children.

"I am very happy to spend my day here. I have made so many friends today," she said.
