Woman to spend 30 years in jail for drug trafficking.

A woman has been sentenced to 30 years in jail without an option of a fine.

Rose Wanjiru Wambugu was found with 141 rolls of bhang valued at Sh2,820 five years ago.

A bond paper relating to a similar criminal matter was also found in her house at Kamuyu village in Kamakwa.

The prosecution case was premised on four key witnesses, including Wambugu's cousin, the late Githathi-ini assistant chief alongside his Kamakwa counterpart Lilian Kibira.

Other witnesses were a police officer Michael Mureithi and Patrick Ochieng', a Government chemist.

Ms Wambugu denied the charge and distanced herself from the bond paper.

Nyeri Principal Magistrate Harrison Adika, however, found her testimony false and sent her to jail yesterday without the option of a fine.

She was at the same time allowed to appeal the judgement in 14 days if not satisfied.
