Man commits suicide, alleges mother’s annoyance

Nyandarua, Kenya: A 36 year old man has committed suicide on allegations that his mother had become a nuisance.

The incident occurred Wednesday in Wanjohi village, Nyandarua County.

Kipipiri OCPD Murkomen Chebet who confirmed the incident said the body of James Hugi was found dangling from the roof of his small hat.

Upon frisking the clothes he was in, a suicide note was found in one of his pockets which said that he had taken the action of hanging himself since he could not bear annoyance subjected to him by his mother.

“Neigbours informed us that they had been quarreling for a long time but no one knew why. That is why he decided to end his life,” he said.

The man was not married and was working for his mother as a farm labourer where he said that his mother was cruel and was giving him all the work in the homestead.

“The man took too long to wake up. Cows had to be milked and feeds fetched for them and that’s when the mother decided to wake him but sadly he was found dead,” he said.

His body was taken to JM Memorial Hospital, Olkalou.
