Safaricom has launched a bouquet of broadband services targeting its small and corporate customers.

Addressing journalists gathered at Nairobi hotel by video from his offices in the city’s Westlands suburb, Safariom CEO Micheal Joseph outlined the benefits of the new products.

"They will revolutionise the way business is transacted in the country," he said on Monday.

Safaricom’s Business Services Chief Officer Fred Moturi said the new services would enable customers to make full use of the mobile provider’s network.

"Safaricom Virtual Office can be used by companies to connect office extensions to mobile phones, Moturi said during the launch of the services at the hotel. Also unveiled on Monday was a fixed voice solution, Direct Corporate Connectivity, that transfers fixed line calls directly to a Safaricom switch. He said Direct Corporate Connectivity would enable companies cut communication costs when reaching their employees.

Others included online bookings and remote surveillance services that operate on broadband technology.

Moturi said that with the Safaricom Wimax, companies would be able to transmit and share information more easily and faster between their head offices and branches.

He said the transactional data and the 3G network would provide efficient broadband connection to facilitate sharing of information between businesses and clients.
