Nairobi couple conned Sh2 million by suspected witchdoctors

DCI detectives in Parklands area on Monday arrested three suspects for obtaining Sh2 million by false pretense from a Nairobi couple.

The suspects; Titus Fedha, Haji Shariff and Suleiman Mzava allegedly promised the couple that they would cast out evil spirits from a property they wanted to sell.

According to the DCI, the suspects, in the company of two others, visited the said compound with a briefcase containing a snake and asked for special oil to burn the snake.

“The three suspects (with others still at large) visited the residence of the complainants with a briefcase containing a snake & other paraphernalia, and convinced the couple to part with the money for buying special oil to burn the snake, after which the suspects disappeared.

“A search conducted at the house of Haji Shariff in Kileleshwa area managed to recover a suitcase containing witchcraft paraphernalia.

“The three suspects are in lawful custody & will be charged with obtaining money by false pretenses,” said the DCI in a statement.

Elsewhere, two men were yesterday evening gunned down at Kiamaiko in Starehe by undercover detectives who were responding to a distress call by members of the public in an attempted robbery.

One pistol and several rounds of ammunition were recovered. Two other suspects escaped and are being pursued.
