Eliud Kipchoge to get brand new Isuzu D-Max if he shatters world record - extends Sh20m partnership with Isuzu

Olympic marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge will be gifted with a brand new Isuzu D-Max should he emerge victorious by shattering the world record in the Berlin Marathon next weekend.

Last year, Truck manufacturers Isuzu East Africa announced their first ever partnership with the decorated athlete – a deal that saw Kipchoge get Sh7m and a brand new D-max for training and personal use. They then promised to reward him with a brand new D-Max Luxury double cabin if he breaks the world record over the next year.

“We have signed up with Eliud because over the years he has demonstrated strength, resilience and reliability in his performance. He has not failed and that resonates well with our Isuzu D-Max that we are giving him,” said Charles Kariuki, Isuzu East Africa’s Chief Financial Officer.

This year, Isuzu has extended its partnership with the Olympic champ and promised him a car, should he break the record set by another Kenyan (Dennis Kimetto) in 2014.

“Through his world class performances, he has demonstrated remarkable strength, resilience and reliability in the races he has participated in. We’ve seen great value in bringing together these two strong brands. We are proud to have Eliud as our Isuzu Dmax Brand Ambassador,” said Isuzu’s Managing Director Kavashe Rita.

Kipchoge believes he can do it – if the weather conditions are right. He praised Isuzu for taking a huge step in supporting Kenyan sportspersons.

“Their steadfast support to my running career sends the important message that major corporates have a significant role to play in sports building at all levels,” said a jubilated Eliud as seen on Capital News.

The partnership is worth Sh20m.

Kipchoge will compete again in Berlin on September 16, 2018 and will be looking to lower the record Dennis Kimetto set (2:02:57).
