Naivasha woman slams two-day-old baby to death against wall

Police are holding a woman who killed her neighbour's newly born baby by smashing her against the wall.

The two-day-old baby's crime, according to the assailant, is that she was sired by her husband.

A neighbour, Mr Ephantus Karani, said the woman stormed the new mother's house in Kasarani estate, Naivasha and a quarrel ensued.

Shortly after, the suspect turned her anger to the child.

"One of the women was accusing the other of siring the baby with her husband and a fight ensued in which the suspect grabbed the minor and smashed her against the wall," he said.

It's alleged that before slamming the baby on the wall, the woman had first tried to pour hot water on her.

The child was rushed to a nearby health centre where she was pronounced dead. Angry onlookers descended on the suspect but police moved in swiftly and rescued her.

The suspect is being held at Kongoni Police Station. "The mother is still in shock after the murder of her child. The suspect will definitely be charged in court with murder," said the officer.

Meanwhile, residents of Njabini town in Kinangop Constituency are in shock after stumbling on human remains which were buried in a shallow grave.

The bones were found behind a residential house in Warurungana village by a tenant who was planting some flowers.

The owner of the home has not been there a couple of years. According to neighbours, he disappeared around the same time his two brothers also went missing.

The incident attracted tens of area residents as the skeleton was exhumed and later taken to Naivasha Sub-County Hospital Mortuary.

Martin Kagwe, a local, said the owner of the house left in unclear circumstances after leasing it out.

"Before the owner (of the house) fled this area, his two brothers had gone missing in unclear circumstances. There are fears the remains could be of one of them," he said.

Mr Kagwe said the skeleton's lower jaw was missing while the the skull had a deep crack.

Kinangop OCPD Yawa Chome said an inquiry file had been opened as part of the investigations.

"The bones will be subjected to a DNA test as we go through our files to see if there is a reported case of missing person around this area," he said.
