One of Homa Bay’s police officers was arrested after his gun was stolen.

The corporal assigned to Kendu Bay Police Station was arrested after he said he lost the pistol he received from the armoury on Saturday evening ahead of patrols.

He completed his shift and went back home to Konyango Sub-location at 10pm.

His house is 1km away from the Kendu Bay Police Station.

The officer said when he retired to his bed, he placed the pistol under his pillow.

He says he awoke at 4am to make a quick phone call, only to return to find the pistol missing.

The officer went to the Kendu Bay Police Station and reported the incident.

Police came to his house and upon looking around realised that the bed is next to a window which was opened.

However, police suspect foul play over the alleged loss.

Homa Bay County DCI Abed Kavoo said the officer is in custody.
