Ida Odinga, 74, wife of the late Right Honorable Former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, has revealed her personal net worth to be around Sh500 million. Ida was speaking  during the parliamentary vetting for her position as Kenya’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).

The revelation was done before the National Assembly’s Departmental Committee on Defence, Intelligence, and Foreign Relations on Friday 20th February 2026, clarifying the vastness of her wealth while clearly distinguishing it from family properties.

"There are things that belong to me and those that belong to the Oginga family for whom I also have interest, but mine is about Sh500 million," Ida Odinga briefly stated.

In her pledge, she wants to champion Kenya’s and Africa’s interests at the global environmental stage, urging the need to address environmental challenges, cautioning that the country’s future prosperity relies on sustainable climate action.

"How we manage or mismanage our environment will determine the quality of life we live. Through my work, I will address the devastating effects of environmental degradation, especially on vulnerable people in the society. This is a critical moment when we have the opportunity to shape our environmental future," she said.

Ida also intends to help stop the destruction of the planet and pursue all related priorities, ensuring that Kenya's and Africa's interests are well represented.

This, she clears, that will be done while working in solidarity with other relevant entities to see that the impact of these actions reach out to the grassroots level.

While the committee is expected to retreat and table its report before the National Assembly for debate and approval, she emotionally honored her late husband, the Right Honorable Former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, for the 52 years of their marriage and support.

"I want to make a special mention of my biggest supporter, my recently departed husband, Raila Odinga. He immensely contributed to the person I am today," she said.
