A man charged with killing his father will remain in custody until January 25 when the High Court will rule on his bail application.
Abdul Nagib is charged with killing his father Nagis Abdallah Fateh on December 17. The mutilated body of Fateh was found stashed in a sack and hidden in a toilet.
Lawyer Lawrence Obonyo applied for Nagib to the released on bail pending hearing and determination of the case. Justice Ann Ong’injo ordered Nagib be detained and directed investigating offers to table a pre-bail report on January 25 to enable her make the ruling on the application.
Nagib yesterday pleaded not guilty to charges of killing his father. He is suspected to have hid the body in their home in Bondeni, Mombasa County. The neighbours said they were disturbed by a foul smell from the toilet and upon checking, they discovered the body stuffed in a sack. Nagib was arrested on December 20, 2021 in Juja, Kiambu, and taken back to Mombasa.
Earlier when the family questioned Nagib about the whereabouts of his father, he said he had gone to his farm at Mavueni in Kilifi. According to a sworn affidavit by investigation officer Stephen Sachita, Nagib was arrested in his girlfriend’s house in Juja where he had gone into hiding.
