Health official accuses husband of influencing her transfer

Meru, Kenya: A health official has moved to the Industrial Court in a bid to bar Ministry of health from transferring her from Nairobi to Meru County.

The woman, whose name has been concealed in her petition, says the cause of her transfer was influenced by her husband who is Deputy Clinical Officer in the same ministry after she filed a child upkeep case against him.

She claims her lover turned against her after she complained to the court about his behaviour of neglecting his children.

Before Industrial Court Judge Justice Nduma Nderi, the officer accused her husband of colluding with the Permanent Secretary for Health Prof Fred Segor to oust her from her current place of work.

The woman further alleges that her transfer to Nyambene District Hospital would jeopardize the chance for her children to get parental right as the Children Court had ordered that they be retained in various schools in Nairobi.

“If the intended posting of the petitioner is effected, the minors will be left in Nairobi alone and thereby will not be able to access basic necessities including food, clothing and shelter,” said the woman’s lawyers, Musyoki Mogaka and Company advocates.
